Clay soil often has low strength, high compressibility, and significant swelling and shrinkage, which can make it unsuitable for construction. Soil stabilization using lime and plastic strips is an effective method for improving these properties. Lime reacts chemically with clay minerals, reducing plasticity, swelling, and water sensitivity while increasing soil strength and workability. Plastic strips act as reinforcing elements within the soil, helping to improve tensile resistance, shear strength, and overall stability.
Clay soil generally has low bearing capacity, high compressibility, and considerable swelling and shrinkage, which can create problems in construction. Induction Furnace (IF) slag, an industrial by-product generated during steel production, can be used as a stabilizing material to improve the engineering properties of clay soil. When properly mixed with clay, IF slag can increase soil strength, reduce plasticity, and improve bearing capacity and compaction characteristics.
